We live & work in one of the most beautiful States in the Union. Well, maybe some people from Out Of State don’t appreciate sagebrush, rocky hills and sparse pine forests as much as we do, but that’s their problem. Nevada offers just about everything anyone could want: Wide open spaces for sportsmen, world class Universities, a vibrant night life, big cities and small towns; mining, ranching, farming, manufacturing, gaming, winter sports, boating, biking, literally thousands of tourist attractions and a vast myriad of supporting industries.
Nevada has some of the largest deposits of natural resources in the region. The #1 gold mining state, we also mine silver, copper, opals and turquoise; as well as gravel, limestone which is used in cement, sand and other stone used in construction all over the continent. There are also Oil and Natural Gas wells producing domestic energy, daily.
Nevada Economy is hurting
Nevada’s Private Sector health should be in the top five, nationally. We have all the ingredients necessary to be a paragon of fiscal virtue, and I honestly wish I could tell you things are better than they are. Sadly, our state is ranked #3 in foreclosures, 13.46% of our population is on Food Stamps and 28% of our children live in households earning less than the Federal Poverty Level. We have lost more jobs –2.1% higher unemployment from May 2011 and May 2012– as a percentage of our population, than any other state in the Union.
Nevada Economy needs Private Sector Growth – our only hope
Incomes and profits can only be taxed if they exist. Incomes and profits are only generated by the Private Sector. That would be You and Me. You and I, working together, are going to have to dig deep and get Wildly Creative if Nevada is ever going to get back on her fiscal feet. And if we truly want to put Nevadan’s back to work, we’re going to have to do it ourselves. We are the heart and soul of Nevada’s economic recovery. WE run the businesses which hire the employees who buy the housing, goods and services which require more businesses to hire more employees…
Economic Growth up to Nevada Business people
If we fall into the trap of thinking some bureaucrat or politician is going to magically make people start buying our goods and using our services, we probably should not have gone into “Business” in the first place. The race isn’t always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but that’s where the smart money bets.
