Front Office Staff Community Non-Profit Rotary Club

The Rotary Club of Reno Midtown

The Rotary Club of Reno Midtown is looking for eager students, currently in their junior year of high school, to participate in RYLA this summer. RYLA stands for Rotary Youth Leadership Awakening, and it is one of Rotary’s signature youth service programs in our region. Young men and women spend a week in a challenging program of discussions, inspirational addresses, leadership training and social activities designed to enhance personal development, leadership skills and good citizenship.

The camp is held at Grizzly Creek Ranch, near Portola, California. Participants will have the opportunity to experience a low and high ropes course and will also be provided scheduled free time to engage in swimming, hiking, archery, kayaking, and other fun activities. Many students describe the week-long camp as life changing and one of the most impactful experiences going into their senior year.

We are also looking for adults to serve as counselors at the camp.  The counselors are encouraged to participate in all of the activities with the students and help facilitate group discussions and activities. The counselors have had amazing experiences as well and benefit from the camp as much as the students do.

There are three weeks to choose from over June and July. Attendance at RYLA is by scholarship only and the Rotary Club of Reno Midtown will be sponsoring three students to participate. If you are, or know a student, currently in their junior year of high school and are interested in attending this dynamic program, please contact Erik Fong at erik@mbarenonv.com for more information and an application.  If you are an adult of any age and want to put that youthful spirit to good use, please contact us. Please go to camp-ryla.org for more specific dates and details.
