Poverty currently affects approximately 13% of the State of Nevada’s estimated 3 million residents. It’s further estimated that 22.7% of our State is comprised of children under age 18 (U.S. Census Bureau).
With all the agencies and programs designed specifically to help children, what happens to those children with a need not met by other resources (kids who find themselves ineligible to receive benefits for a variety of reason/scenarios)?
Created to meet the needs of these children, For Kids Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit formed in 2003. We provide funding for kids (birth through age 20, living in Northern Nevada) with urgent, unmet needs who “fall through the cracks” of other programs. We step in to fill in the gaps to provide financial assistance for medical, dental, psychological, and educational products and services when there is no other alternative for the family.
In 2018 For Kids Foundation funded greater than $123,000 of Program Awards for some of Northern Nevada’s most vulnerable children. We are on track to meet or surpass that number in 2019. Thanks to the generous support of our community and a dedicated Board of Directors—we hope to positively impact a child’s life.
To that end, we are hosting the 3rd Annual Golf Tournament, Friday, September 20, 2019, at Lakeridge Golf Course in Reno. We hope to generate $45,000 from this event to fund Program Awards for Northern Nevada children.

The event starts at 12 noon with a BBQ-style lunch followed by 1:30 p.m. shotgun start. Crombacher Brewery USA will be pouring beer tastings, The Loving Cup will be offering mescal tastings, and we’ll be serving up some fabulous Boisset Wine for the wine lovers in the group—no one will go home thirsty—guaranteed!
